Who is Peplink?

Peplink is an industry leader in SDWAN-capable cellular routers. Their mission is to deliver unbreakable connectivity anytime anywhere. They have helped thousands increase bandwidth, enhance internet reliability, reduce connectivity costs, and enable new deployment possibilities. With cutting-edge technology and industrial-grade design, Peplink routers deliver superior results. They can be used in homes, vehicles, businesses – anywhere they’re needed.

What Do You Mean, SDWAN-Capable?

SDWAN (Software Defined Wide Area Network) is a virtual WAN (Wide Area Network), primarily for enterprises, that allows multiple routers to connect back to a central hub for easy management and monitoring. Peplink routers all allow multiple bonding and creation of a larger network.

How Do Peplink Cellular Roures Work?

Using an active SIM card from AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile, Peplink cellular routers capture LTE/4G/5G cellular signals and convert them to reliable internet. You can then connect your devices via WiFi or Ethernet and enjoy. Peak performance relies on strong cellular signal strength.

To reduce downtime, Peplink cellular routers feature a multiple WAN interface. This means that they offer multiple ways to connect to the internet to prevent connection failures by automatically failing over to other connections. In addition to cellular WAN, Peplink cellular routers also feature Ethernet WAN, WiFi as WAN, and USB WAN, varying across models.

  • Ethernet WAN - The Ethernet WAN port allows you to connect the cellular router to a broadband internet service. It can be traditional cable internet as well as satellite internet like Starlink. You can make this your primary connection and have the router failover to cellular when needed. For those using satellite services, this setup will help patch up any connectivity holes. Anywhere your satellite connection drops, Peplink picks up the slack.
  • WiFi as WAN - WiFi as WAN enabled Peplink routers allow you to use a nearby private or public WiFi network as your internet source. This adds an extra layer of redundancy for fixed and mobile applications when unable to connect directly to an internet ISP via Ethernet. If cellular is weak, a secure internet connection can be provided through an external source, such as an RV park WiFi network or Starlink.
  • USB WAN – The USB WAN port found on select Peplink routers enables you to connect a USB cellular modem for additional failover. In industries where even a momentary loss of connectivity carries significant financial implications, this feature serves as a crucial lifeline.

Via the GPS port, built into all Peplink cellular routers, companies can accurately track fleet vehicles with a single unit.

When coupled with Peplink’s SpeedFusion, Peplink routers can help you build a truly unbreakable connection. SpeedFusion consists of:

  • Hot-Failover - Ensures your connection instantly switches to the strongest network if your connection falters.
  • Bandwidth Bonding – Allows you to combine multiple connections, such as broadband, cellular, and WiFi as WAN, for faster speeds and greater throughput. This is super helpful for remote sites or moving vehicles since data speeds are usually on the lower end. Bonding is only compatible with the Peplink PRO 5G cellular routers.
  • WAN Smoothing – Minimizes latency and reduces data transmission errors, making your connection more resilient. This is done using intelligent algorithms to fill in connectivity gaps.

What are the Advantages of Peplink Cellular Routers?

Peplink cellular routers:

  • Minimize latency
  • Deliver fast speeds
  • Offer a great deal of redundancy (amount varies by model)
  • Provide an extremely secure connection
  • Feature a tough construction for deployment anywhere
  • Are designed for building, vehicle, and IoT applications
  • Have a built-in GPS interface allows accurate vehicle tracking
  • Support Hot-Failover, Bandwidth Bonding, and WAN Smoothing

Peplink Cellular Router Overview

There are various Peplink cellular routers available. Here is an overview of the Peplink cellular routers we carry to help you find the right one for your needs:

Peplink MAX BR1 Mini Cellular Router Series

The Peplink Max BR1 Minis are the most popular cellular routers for low to mid-bandwidth needs, perfect for most people. If you constantly run data-heavy applications across multiple devices, this may not be the router for you.

Its small size makes it easy to install anywhere without getting in the way. Dual-SIM capable, it can switch between two cellular providers as needed for uninterrupted connectivity. You can browse, scroll through social media, stream movies, video chat, and keep IoT devices online with little to no downtime.

There are various configurations of the BR1 Mini to cater to different needs. They vary in speed, features, and price.

Peplink MAX BR1 Mini CAT 7

The Peplink MAX BR1 Mini CAT 7 features an LTE CAT 7 modem. It uses the LTE network to deliver reliable WiFi. 5G is not supported. With two LAN ports and one WAN/LAN, you can wire any equipment for best performance. Provided speeds can reach up to 300 Mbps down and 150 Mbps up. Via the built-in GPS port, it also gives you the option to keep track of your fleet. AC or DC power supply options available.

Peplink MAX BR1 Mini CAT 4

The Peplink MAX BR1 Mini CAT 4 is a more affordable version. It has an LTE CAT 4 modem, allowing max speeds of up to 150 Mbps down and 50 Mbps up. This model is for basic internet needs, nothing too intense. It also has two LAN ports, one WAN/LAN port, and GPS. It’s available with an AC or DC power supply.

Peplink MAX BR1 Mini Core

The Peplink MAX BR1 Mini Core looks like the previous two, but it does not offer WiFi or GPS connectivity. It’s a direct connect unit, making it perfect for M2M and IoT units. With an LTE CAT 4 modem, it can deliver speeds up to 150 Mbps down and 50 Mbps up. That’s enough to power an EV charging station, ATM, vending machine, smart meter, and the like.

Dual-SIM capable, the router will switch between cellular providers whenever needed for always-on connectivity. This is especially helpful for vehicles in motion.

Peplink MAX BR1 PRO CAT 20

The Peplink MAX BR1 PRO CAT 20 is equipped with an LTE cellular modem. It takes LTE cellular signals operating across major LTE bands, including Band 71, and converts them to reliable, fast internet with maximum speeds of up to 2 Gbps down and 211 Mbps up. Featuring WiFi 6, it offers a more efficient connection than the BR1 Minis. With two gigabit LAN ports and one 2.5 gigabit WAN/LAN port, you can wire up to three devices. Through the WAN port, you can connect to a cable or satellite broadband service and use cellular as your backup network. Also sporting a GPS port, it’s equipped for accurate fleet tracking.

Peplink BR1 PRO 5G

The Peplink BR1 PRO 5G has many of the same features as the Peplink MAX BR1 PRO CAT 20. It’s built with WiFi 6, a GPS port, dual SIM slots, two gigabit LAN ports, and one 2.5 gigabit WAN/LAN port. This cellular router, however, works with both 5G and 4G cellular networks. No matter where you are, you will get the best possible connection available. When connected to 5G, the router is capable of delivering speeds up to 4 Gbps down and 700 Mbps up. On 4G, it offers max download speeds of up to 2 Gbps and upload speeds of up to 150 Mbps.

Peplink BR2 PRO 5G

The Peplink BR2 PRO 5G builds on the BR1 1 PRO 5G, creating the ultimate router for applications with extremely high bandwidth needs. Unlike the BR1 units, this is a dual modem cellular router, allowing it to have seven WAN interfaces. It features dual 2.5 gigabit ethernet WANs, dual cellular WAN, dual WiFi as WAN, and one USB WAN. With multiple WAN options, the BR2 PRO 5G has crazy capacity and keeps your connection running smoothly without any downtime.
